Twyanna Williams, 65, not only graduated from high school last month, but she was also the class valedictorian. Willams was a part of the 2021 graduating class from Philadelphia’s South Philadelphia High School. She and other students were participants in the city’s Educational Options Program. This program is designed to assist adults with earning their high school diploma.

The retired, grandmother of four, dropped out of school when she was 15. She had to start working immediately to aid her mother in paying bills when she got divorced from William’s father. However, she was always committed to finishing her studies.

In 2020, she joined the EOP. The school gave her a computer, and she got to work.

Williams worked in factories, hotels, fast-food restaurants, and hospitals for 40 years.

“..it’s never too late to go back to school no matter what age you drop out…it is important. Education is very important,” Williams declared.
