Dallas Police Officer Killed By Drunk Driver In Crash

Dallas PD are investigating a crash that left an officer dead early Saturday morning.
According to reports a Dallas police officer was blocking lanes from a previous crash in the northbound lanes of North Central Expressway at Walnut Hill Lane.
When a driver of a four door Kia Forte collided with the officer while he was standing outside of his marked patrol vehicle with the lights on.
The officer was transported to Baylor hospital where he died from his injuries.
The officer was later identified as officer Mitchell Penton.

The driver of the Kia Forte Phillip Mabry,32 was found to be intoxicated.
He was arrested for Intoxication Manslaughter on a Police Officer and Intoxication Assault, for the passenger that was in his vehicle. The suspect was seen by medical staff and released. The female passenger was questioned and taken to an area hospital for chest pains and lacerations on her face.
This investigation remains ongoing.
