Dallas County Distributing 5,000 COVID-19 Vaccines At Convention Center

At the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, Dallas Texas will be receiving its own allocation of COVID-19 vaccine shots to begin vaccinating residents next week.
Just until recently, vaccines had been distributed by appointment only at Fair Park as instituted by the City and County Officials. This was also proved with 2,000 vaccines to the first responders.
Mayor Eric Johnson stated that- “I am excited and ready to get these highly effective, life-saving vaccines to the public… As I have said, the city of Dallas is ready to help the state take its vaccination efforts to the next level. We will do so equitably, efficiently, and without political influence.”
Located at the Kay Bailey Hutchison convention center, which only allows an appointment-based drive-thru, the vaccines will be given out by the Dallas Fire-rescue paramedics. If there are those who are interested in receiving a vaccine, they must register with the County.
Plans have been made to pull a list of eligible residents from the Dallas County Health and Human Services database in order to contact those people directly to schedule an appointment. The new vaccine site is opened from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and on the weekends it will depend on the availability.
It has not be determined if additional sites could be added in the future.
