Certain members of the “Pro-Trump Mob”, that staged the riot at the US Capitol last week intended “to capture and assassinate elected officials,” federal prosecutors stated in a new court filing against Jacob Chansley, also known by the name, “Qanon Shaman.”
Chansley, was the rioter who wore the horns, face paint and fur while standing on the Senate dais as he left a threatening note for the Vice President Mike Pence, prosecutors say.
The handwritten letter wrote, “It’s only a matter of time, justice is coming,” according to court documents. The note had been left at the spot where, moments earlier, Pence had been poised to preside over a joint session to certify President-elect Joe Biden’s victory over President Donald Trump.
Chansley told the FBI that he believes that Pence is a “child-trafficking traitor.”
He also told investigators that he did not mean to message to Pence as a threat, although prosecutors stated that the Government strongly disagrees.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Arizona filed the memorandum on Thursday as part of its argument against releasing Jacob Chansley while his case proceeds. He is scheduled to appear at a detention hearing Friday afternoon in Phoenix.
