Plano Officer Shot; Suspect Barricaded Inside Apartment

Plano police are actively working a scene in which a suspect has shot a police officer and barricaded himself inside the residence.
Officers responded to a welfare check call on the 6400 block of Ohio Dr.
Upon arrival someone stepped onto the apartment balcony and shot at a marked squad car striking the officer.
The officer was transported to a nearby hospital with non life threatening injuries.
The person then went and barricaded himself back inside the apartment.
The man walked outside while negotiating with crisis team members and shot himself Thursday afternoon.
The condition of the person is unknown at this time.
