Houston Police Helicopter Crashes Killing One Officer And Injuring Another

A Houston police officer was killed and another critically wounded after a helicopter crashed into a building while helping searching for bodies in a bayou early Saturday morning.
The incident happened around 2am when officers responded to a shots fired call and the helicopter was called out to assist with possible bodies hiding in the bayou.
A tactical flight officer and pilot were in the helicopter when it crashed into an apartment complex clubhouse.
The pilot and tactical officer were both transported to a nearby hospital where the tactical flight officer was pronounced dead.
The police department later identified the officer who died as Tactical Flight Officer Jason Knox and the pilot as Senior Police Officer Chase Cormier.
No cause for the crash has been given at this time.
Six people were taken into custody.
The National Transportation Board and the Federal Aviation Administration will investigate while Houston police conduct a separate homicide investigation.
The crash investigation will explore whether the helicopter was struck by gunfire before crashing.
