A Texas man was involved in a high-speed crash and subsequently fled the scene, leaving his injured family behind.

Houston police reported that on the night of Tuesday, March 25, the father was driving with his wife and four children when his SUV collided with a pickup truck that cut him off while making a right turn from an inside lane.

The impact caused the SUV to become airborne before it crashed into a drainage ditch. Investigators estimate that the SUV was traveling at around 100 miles per hour, significantly exceeding the 35 mph speed limit.

The serious accident took place near the 5300 block of Yale Street. An 8-year-old child, the oldest among the four, was ejected from the vehicle. Authorities stated that the remaining three children are toddlers.

After the crash, the father fled the scene and was later picked up by another vehicle. Thankfully, nobody in the pickup truck was harmed, but the driver’s family is currently receiving treatment in the hospital, with three individuals in critical condition and two more in serious but stable condition.

As authorities continue their search for the father who escaped, no charges have been filed as of yet.
