The Grand Prairie Police Department had located 5 year old Santiago Aburto Gonzalez, a missing endangered child, from the 2400 block of W. Pioneer Parkway.

Santiago is believed to have left his home at Ashton Park Apartment Homes on Sunday evening and has not yet been found.

Santiago was last seen wearing an orange “Mickey” shirt, blue shorts, and no shoes.

On March 17, after an extensive search effort, the Grand Prairie Public Safety Dive Team discovered Santiago in S. Cottonwood Creek near the Ashton Park Apartment Homes. The water was completely murky, and the divers were conducting a manual search when Santiago was found about 4 feet beneath the surface, not visible from the ground.

The search involved police officers and civilians from multiple agencies, including the Grand Prairie Police Department, Grand Prairie Fire Department, Arlington Police Department, Garland Police Department, United States Marshals Service, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Dallas Police, Texas Department of Public Safety Air Support, Search One Rescue K9s, and drones from the Grand Prairie Police UAS Drone Unit.

The Grand Prairie Police Department has extended its heartfelt condolences to Santiago’s family and will continue to provide support as needed.

Although this case remains under investigation, there is no indication of foul play.

Anyone with information regarding Santiago’s whereabouts is encouraged to call 911.
