Garland police are looking into a potential murder-suicide case.
On Friday, March 7, 2025, just before 6:30 PM, officers from the Garland Police Department responded to reports of gunfire at an apartment complex located on the 1300 block of West Kingsley Road. When they arrived, they found two people inside an apartment, both suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
A female victim was taken to a local hospital, where she underwent surgery and is currently in the ICU. Meanwhile, a male suspect was found dead at the scene, apparently from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was later identified as 20-year-old Angel Vargas-Martinez.
Initial investigations suggest that Vargas-Martinez entered the female’s apartment, shot her, and subsequently turned the gun on himself. Authorities believe Vargas-Martinez knee the victim’s family and are working to gather more information about the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
The investigation is still ongoing.
