15-Year-Old Charged With Murder After Killing Woman In Drive-By Shooting, Arrested Again After Removing Ankle Monitor
15-year-old Rene Gonzales, who removed his ankle monitor after posting bond on murder charges, has been certified as an adult.
Gonzales and 17-year-old Isaac Gonzales are both being charged with murder for the October 2022 fatal shooting of Novita Brazil, 25. She was an innocent woman was was murdered while inside of her residence during a drive-by shooting.
Authorities say that the teens removed their ankle monitors while they were out on bond.
On October 26, Rene Gonzales was apprehended following a police chase. Police say that he had been on Instagram recording live as he was fleeing from authorities.
On Tuesday, Isaac Gonzales was taken into custody.
Documents show that Rene Gonzales made a $250,000 bond in May but then had a bond violation. His bond was then set at $275,000, but he made bond again in August. That’s when a GPS monitor was placed on him, and he was put on full house arrest. However, he later cut the monitor off.
Isaac Gonzales’s bond was first set at $250,000. It was later decreased to $100,000 then to $50,000 prior to him being freed from jail on a personal recognizance bond in July. After he removed his GPS monitor, his warrant was issued again, and his bond was increased to $500,000 prior to him being remanded without bond.
Both teens will appear in court on Jan. 12. If a trial is carried out, each one could receive life in prison if they are found guilty.
